Core Values

It’s hard to believe that we’ve begun another year. Time does seem to be moving by faster as each year passes. The routine of our lives often has us dealing with one issue to the next which often keeps our focus on the task at hand. This in the moment focus can cause us to accomplish goals and finish projects all the while forgetting why we started the goal or project in the first place.

Churches are especially guilty of this. Often a church will fall into a routine of ministry without ever evaluating effectiveness or determining if something is working. This is where the statement we’ve always done it this way before is often declared with an almost reverent tone as though we’re quoting from the very writings of Moses. In the church world, the question, “Why are we doing this?” isn’t asked enough. So we just continue doing what we’ve always done without any real vision or purpose.

This consistent movement without measurement is why we need to often evaluate our activity within the guidelines of our Core Values. Our Core Values should always dictate where we expend our energy and spend our resources. With this in mind, we are going to spend a great deal of our focus in 2012 looking at our Core Values. Our hope is to have everyone on the same page with the same heart to see Jesus change our world!
