Purpose

FIVE CODES

REACHING UP-A WORD FOUNDATION

The thumb in the upward position represents a Word Foundation.  At Mt Zion we  live by a HIGHER standard when we live by God’s Word.

We teach God’s Word in such a way that anyone can apply its principles to everyday life.

We must have a lifestyle that our walk and decisions are based on the principles in God’s Word.

We need to REACH UP to a high standard of living by having a Word Foundation in our daily lives.

REACHING FORWARD-HOLY SPIRIT

We point forward with our index finger.  When you point at something you are giving direction.

We believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is important in every believer’s life.  The Holy Spirit gives us direction to move us forward.

The early church began to move forward in an incredible way on the day of Pentecost through direction of the Holy Spirit.

The index finger (Holy Spirit) and the thumb (Word Foundation) are VERY CLOSELY connected. We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word complement each other.

We must REACH FORWARD by understanding the important role that the Holy Spirit plays in our family and everyday life.

REACHING OUT-OUTREACH

The middle finger extends out further than all the other fingers.

We must reach out to others who do not know Jesus in the city of Greenville and the world.

We begin that process by gaining influence in the lives of people.  Jesus didn’t just tell Peter, James and John to come follow Him, he gained influence into their lives first.  Using their boat to teach from Jesus told them to let down their nets for a plentiful harvest.

Gaining influence into the lives of those we come in contact with on a daily basis is a key to winning other people to Christ.

As committed individuals and as a church, we must REACH OUTSIDE the four walls of Mt Zion.

REACHING IN-RELATIONSHIPS

The ring finger represents marriage and relationships.  Relationships are at the core of Mt Zion.

The first area of focus is the relationships within our immediate family (mom, dad, brother, sister).  If we have strong families we will have a strong church.

The second area of focus is the relationship within our church family.  Church has to be more than a place where we come and go on a weekly basis. We want Mt Zion to be a community.

We encourage members of our church family to become a part of a Life Group where they can connect with others in the church.

In becoming committed to REACH IN, we will make our families stronger and build a strong community with our church.

REACHING BEYOND-NEXT GENERATION

The “pinky” finger represents the next generation.  We must reach beyond to the next generation.

There will come a season when we will need to pass the “keys of the ministry” to a new generation of leaders.

The church today doesn’t look as it did 30 years ago.  Likewise, the church 30 years from now won’t look like the church of today. We must begin reaching and preparing a new generation of leaders.

Ninety percent of people receive Christ by the age of 19.  Mt Zion places a major emphasis on reaching children and students. But it doesn’t stop there.

The success of Jesus’ ministry depended on discipleship. Just as Jesus poured His life into the disciples, we must pour our lives into our children and students that will be carrying the ministry in the future.

We must REACH BEYOND to prepare our children and students to become the next generation of leaders.
